Reading the size off your sidewall
Every tyre has its size moulded into the side. Read us the whole code and we can quote a firm price before anyone sets off. Here is what each part means.

- 205 Width of the tyre in millimetres, sidewall to sidewall.
- 55 Sidewall height as a percentage of the width. Lower means a thinner, sportier sidewall.
- R Radial construction. Almost every car tyre sold today is radial.
- 16 Wheel rim diameter in inches. It has to match your wheels exactly.
- 91 Load index: the weight each tyre can carry. 91 means 615 kg.
- V Speed rating: the top sustained speed the tyre is built for. V means 149 mph.

Postcode, car and the code off the sidewall. We confirm we have the tyre and quote a fixed price.
The van arrives loaded
Your fitter comes with the tyre, a jack, a wheel balancer and a calibrated torque wrench.
Fitted and balanced
Wheel off, tyre fitted with a new valve, balanced on the van and refitted to the car.
Torqued and handed back
Nuts torqued to your manufacturer's figure, pressures set, old tyre taken away.

UK legal minimum tread depth
When it's time for a new tyre
Some of these are a legal problem, some are a safety one. All of them are worth a call.
Tread is getting low
The legal limit is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters, but grip in the wet falls off well before that. Most fitters recommend changing at 3mm.
A bulge or cut in the sidewall
Sidewall damage can't be repaired safely. A bulge means the internal structure has failed and the tyre can let go without warning.
One edge wearing faster
Uneven wear usually points to tracking or pressures. We replace the tyre and tell you what we think caused it.
Cracking with age
Rubber hardens and cracks over time, even with plenty of tread left. Tyres over about six years old are worth checking.

You call with your postcode and tyre size, we quote a fixed price and an arrival window, and a fitter arrives with the tyre already on the van. It is fitted, balanced and torqued where the car is parked.
How long does it take?
About 20 to 30 minutes for one tyre and 45 minutes to an hour for a full set of four, balancing included.
Can I book a time rather than call out now?
Yes. Most fittings are booked ahead for a morning, an evening or a weekend slot at home or at work. Emergency callouts are for when the car can't be driven.
What tyres do you carry?
Premium tyres from Bridgestone, Continental, Michelin, Pirelli, Goodyear and Hankook, plus mid-range and budget options. If a size is unusual we order it in and fit it the next day.
Do I need to be there?
Not always. If the car is somewhere we can reach safely and the keys can be left with someone, we can do the job and call you when it is finished.
